The EP was recorded at Studio Mantel by our good friend Rickard Nygren, who plays in Insane and Nattramn. We’d talked to him on numerous occasions about him recording us, ‘cause he liked our demo from 2018 and was willing to work with us. We knew he had some recording experience prior to us and that he understood what we wanted.

These Swedens have been going on for almost 12 years now. “Nattramn” is their fifth studio work after the 2013’s “Fire Meets Ice”. Following the sound they have crafted over the years Ereb Altor continue to blend black metal with Viking and epic metal along with atmospheric passages. They follow their Scandi heritage and deal with Norse mythology & dark legends in Sweden, which help Nattramn was recorded and mixed by Jonas Lindström at Studio Apocalypse and mastered by Jens Bogren at famous Fascination Street Studios (Opeth, Paradise Lost, Kreator, Amon Amarth,). Given my recent review of Diagnose: Lebensgefahr, I thought I'd revisit Nattramn's previous project, the legendary Silencer. This Swedish band only had one album, Death - Pierce Me (Lupus Lounge, 2001; reissued by Autopsy Kitchen, 2006), but it's a touchstone of depressive black metal.

At 42 minutes, Nattramn is a concise listen, and though some songs could lose a minute here and there, self-editing isn’t a huge issue and the album has a sneaky way of growing with repeat spins. The production is a bit muddy at times, but if you go back and listen to Hammerheart , you’ll see they are just keeping true to their influences
